Could we
change without experience, inspiration, and/or pressure? Without reason would
we? Is not the current form of our being based upon the changes
experienced in the past? Looking at the idea of change, can be quite
simplistic and superficial in nature however acting on change and living
through change can be different. It would seem quite normal for one to be
satisfied living without much change at all; eating the same meals, listening
to the same music, and even dressing in the same style. Simplicity is
desirable, I must admit; though how much of life, and the world, do we miss out
on from a fear of change or a satisfaction of regularity?
Does
making a change require one to wholly reconfigure their mindset in which they
are prepared to view the world? Should it? This type of change is hard and one
that requires a mind willing to turn inwards and reflect upon itself.
Often in these circumstances we tune our focus to something that we are aware
of, something that we are unsatisfied with and want to change. Then
there are other times in life when change is thrust upon us by virtue of a
presenting circumstance. It is in these moments, change can be
assimilated to natural progression-evolution. Sometimes, this experience
though on paper presents as more appealing, can present with numerous hidden
obstacles. This type of change isn’t one of choice.
In order to make a change we must indeed change our mindset.
No one in this world is perfect, so we should strive to better ourselves and by
doing that, we will change. Try to run that extra kilometre, enjoy the risk of
jumping out of a plane (as my brother recently did), read that book on philosophy
that you have avoided due to its controversial nature. Take a moment and
think outside your square and think of something small that you can change this
week for yourself. As history has repeated itself time after time, I hope
one day we may finally learn and together face the fears of change together –
for the better, for the future.
